A medieval Provençal village just moments from the villa
One of the best parts of staying at the villa is how close you are to Grimaud Village. It is not a place you need to overplan. The best way to enjoy it is slowly: walk through the narrow streets, stop in the small squares, admire the stone houses and old façades, then continue up toward the castle ruins for the view.
The main landmark is the Château de Grimaud, the medieval castle above the village. It overlooks the Gulf of Saint-Tropez and gives one of the best viewpoints in the area. We recommend going in the morning or early evening, when the light is softer and the walk uphill is more pleasant. The castle and Saint-Michel Church are both listed as historic monuments.
Another place worth seeing is Saint-Michel Church, a Romanesque church in the heart of the village. It is simple, old, and very Provençal in character, which makes it a good contrast to the more polished coastal towns nearby. From there, continue wandering through the historic centre rather than rushing from one monument to the next.
For a slightly longer walk, continue toward the Moulin Saint-Roch, the old windmill outside the village. It was built in the 16th century and later restored, including its roof, sails, and mechanism. It is a good small detour if you enjoy heritage, views, and quieter corners away from the centre.
If you want a more nature-oriented stop, look for Le Pont des Fées, an old aqueduct bridge set in the countryside near the village. It works best as part of a gentle walk rather than as a standalone attraction. Together, the castle, church, windmill, and Pont des Fées make Grimaud a very easy half-day visit from the villa.
